For the Love of Creation

Coeur d’Alene, ID

I’ve always been a creative.

Yes, that’s a title.

Like a musician, painter, or teacher.

Instead of being limited to the one thing, creatives just create.

We create in so many different ways.

We create what we feel most drawn to.

We create, as if our lives depend on it.

Because they do. (or at least our well-being does).

When we either can’t or don’t, it feels like our soul is dying.

I’m in no way exaggerating.

We care, feel, and absorb until we are filled to the brim with so much roiling emotion, we either ache or make ourselves numb just to cope.

So..we create.

We take all of that emotion and create something beautiful out of it.

I was hesitant to put all that you’ll find in this blog out there. Mats was very humble and private. I often wonder how he’d feel about it. But all he ever wanted was for me to do whatever I wanted. He encouraged me to follow my heart and my joy above all else, even when it led us to the bookstore 3 times in one weekend. He loved it. He loved the words, art, and poetry that lives in my soul.

So this is me, taking all my grief, pain, heartache and doing my very best to create beauty, joy, hope, and inspiration - all of the things Mats Clark brought into my life.

I hope the love that I’m pouring into this latest creation, that was poured into me by him, changes you in the best way.

Thank you so much for being here.

With love,

Me, Mats, & Duke
